British Gas

Communicating to customers and prospects nationally means British Gas uses a lot of direct mail, welcome packs and advertising. Here’s a taste of our creative work for them.

Home efficiency direct mail and ad

The brief was to draw attention to energy efficiency in a more subtle way. We moved the focus of the message away from ‘what you could save’ to ‘what you could do for others’.

From an approved visual (concept art) we created this quirky image of a school boy with his new goldfish and bowl. This opened up to reveal supporting cameo imagery of the boy thanking his mum with a ‘nice cup of tea for having bought him the goldfish.

So it delivered a background story about how being more efficient can make small but meaningful differences.

To achieve this quirky image we shot the bowl, goldfish, hands and boy separately.

Doing this meant having total control over the size and position of all components when retouching them together (using PhotoShop), plus we could control the distortion caused by the bowl.

This, along with the cameos, was used in the creative design and artwork for a direct mail and print advertising campaign.

Poster advertising and direct mail

British Gas wanted to target homes in Kent and the surrounding areas to promote their attendance at the BBC Good Homes Roadshow at the Blue Water Centre.

They needed creative concepts, design and artwork to create direct mail and posters for bus stop shelters and other poster sites. Visiting the British Gas stand would provide customers with unique offers only available at the show.

From approved black and white visuals or concept art we created a mosaic- style illustration of a showerhead with water flowing from it carrying the lead copy ‘Let us shower you with offers'. Delivered on time and on budget.

Creating unique digital illustration

We create a lot of imagery for our clients so as to keep their messaging unique to their brand. With so much stock imagery around the same images quite often turn up on a completely different campaign or piece of marketing literature - diluting the focus to your campaign.

For this home insurance direct mail campaign we had multiple messages that we wanted to support with one particular style of image. Creating stained glass windows, such as those above some Edwardian and Victorian doorways, provided the perfect link to the product to illustrate each message.
